Latest Claro features debut at DevLearn 2012

Las Vegas NV, DevLearn 2012, Oct. 31, 2012

Two years since initially announcing the beta release of Claro at DevLearn 2010, dominKnow is set to once again roll out new features in the award-winning HTML5-compliant authoring tool.

This November's Claro release brings in a number of new testing and assessment options, extending Claro's already robust testing features. The new assessment features include:

  • A new long answer/essay response question type
  • A new easy to use and extremely flexible drag and drop test question type
  • Individual passing scores for modules in courses with multiple modules
  • Random order with optional set order items (e.g., all of the above) for multiple choice questions options
  • Option to designate a course as test- or assessment-only, allowing the hiding of associated learning content – great for master tests that reuse content from other courses

The new features also include an option to publish a course for desktop/local computer use as an EXE file, and an update to Claro's support for ADLNet's Experience API (also known as the Tin Can API).

The Experience API is currently sitting at revision .95, nearing its readiness for "official" sanctioned use, and Claro is moving forward right along with the specification's development. In addition, Claro's publishing process will now include publishing profiles, allowing authors to save commonly-used publishing settings for quick re-use.

An improved, round trip translation export and import workflow simplifies how organizations can create multiple-language versions of existing courses and other content in Claro.

An extended glossy feature supports term and definition re-use and synchronization across multiple course projects and dramatically reduces the level of effort required to maintain glossary consistency and integrity.

The November 2012 release is the latest of a dozen feature updates for Claro in the 18 months since it first came to market in April 2011, a testament to dominKnow's commitment to constantly move Claro forward and ability to deliver a continually improving Cloud- based solution.

"Our web-based approach makes it very easy for us to maintain a constant level of innovation with Claro. We can roll out new features and feature updates to all of our clients in one update period, and they do not have to worry about any effort on their end," says dominKnow CEO Luke Hickey. "Clients can begin using the new features in any project the next time they log in, and they didn't have to download or run an update or involve the IT team."

With the new features, Claro extends its position as the industry's best option for teams that need to create HTML5-based elearning and mlearning courses as well as performance support and just-in-time learning products.

That position has been recognized the past two years running by Gold Medal honors in the Brandon Hall Group's learning content authoring/management categories for 2010 and 2011 and also a recent 2012 Authoring Tool of the Year honor from Elearning 247.
