You might wonder why understanding the art and science of perspective is important to instructional designers. I think we all are aware of how many “hats” the job requires us to wear. And we are often asked to create custom content or use libraries of clipart within our interactive training scenarios.
This is why Chief Nugget Head, Kevin Thorn joins us for our ongoing “Drink’n’Draw” episodes. He’s been practicing his craft and honing his skills for many years. He also enjoys teaching those skills to others, especially instructional designers that do not think they are artistic or creative.
In this episode he used his iPad and an app called ProCreate to show us how to draw simple images with the correct perspective. We learned about horizon lines and vanishing points and how to use them effectively.
Stick around for the end (or fast-forward) and see how he uses the same perspective guides to create the perfect shadow as well.
