How to Design Accessible Learning Content with Susi Miller

Making learning and development (L&D) content inclusive and accessible for everyone is not only a good thing to do, it's the right thing to do.

This week, Susi Miller, author of the recently-published bookDesigning Accessible Learning Content joined us on Instructional Designers inOffices Drinking Coffee (IDIODC).

And with Brent on vacation, dominKnow’s own Dr. Paul Schneider joined us for the session as well.

We covered a wide-ranging set of topics around accessibility and how InstructionalDesigners and eLearning developers can do more to improve access for all.

We also talked about the basics of accessibility and how you can level up your career by being more sensitive to designing and developing more accessible learning solutions.

There are lots of books and resources available on accessibility in general, but Susi’s book is the first written our world of instructional design and elearning.

It provides evidence-based advice on designing digital learning content that ensures all learners are included and are therefore able to perform to their full potential.

And in this session we worked through some of the basics, from why accessibility is so critical, how to start doing a better job of ensuring accessibility in our own elearning content, and even ways to do QA and testing on accessibility features without being a full accessibility expert.

It was a great and very important conversation!
