New image editor, hot spot tool and increased mobile support promise to save costs, open greater creative possibilities and increase access to e-learning content
January 14, 2009
LONDON, UK: Jan. 14, 2009 - A new image editor, polygonal hotspot tool and wider support for mobile platforms are being unveiled today at BETT.BETT (formerly the British Educational and Training Technology show) is the world's largest educational technology event, with close to 29,000 attendees expected to walk its aisles this year. The dominKnow LCMS's new inline image editing tool is accessible directly within the dominKnow LCMS's authoring tool. The image editing tool allows users to crop, resize and rotate images, as well as adjust image hue, saturation and even work with effects. The tool provides all of the image editing functions the vast majority of e-learning projects usually require.Adding the image editor to the dominKnow LCMS will lead to cost savings for dominKnow clients, as it virtually eliminates the need for desktop image editing software. With the cost of the industry-standard image editing tool at $700 US per license, a five-person e-learning team will save $3,500 while a 10-person team could save $7,000 in software license costs. Also being unveiled at BETT is a polygonal hot spot tool. Hot spot buttons can now easily be added to an image in almost any shape, allowing for the development of very customized and specific interactions. This opens up a world of new creative options for interaction development for dominKnow LCMS users. Creating an exploration exercise to identify the parts in a schematic drawing now only requires an image of the schematic and a few minutes' time in the LCMS authoring tool.dominKnow has also expanded its support for mobile learning to include any smart phone with a web browser that has a resolution of 240x240 or greater. Mobile users can now access courses, search for learning objects by keyword, retrieve reference and resource documents, receive podcasts and retrieve contacts through the dominKnow LCMS's mobile support portal. The expanded mobile learning support builds upon the foundations of our iPhone and iPod Touch support, announced last year. BETT takes place at Olympia exhibition center in London from Wednesday, Jan. 14, to Saturday, Jan. 17. dominKnow is located at booth SW 30.Media contacts:Chris Van WingerdenVice President, Learning SolutionsdominKnow Inc.chris.van.wingerden@dominknow.com(613) 264-0096
