dominKnow API streamlines system integration for e-learning delivery

PERTH, ON, SEPTEMBER 25, 2007 – In response to customer demand, dominKnow Inc. is offering an Application Program Interface (API) that opens up the dominKnow Learning Content Management System (LCMS) 5.1 to a tremendous range of new integration opportunities with client systems and tools.

The API extends integration capabilities far beyond the AICC (Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training Committee) and SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) e-learning industry standards, allowing customers to more completely integrate and share information across existing human resource, e-commerce, administrative, and other system applications. This is in addition to the dominKnow LCMS’s proven record of integration with third-party Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Added functionality can include single user sign-on, the ability to integrate e-commerce transactions for instant enrollment and access to courses, and the capability to share learning objects and content files across other applications and systems.

The dominKnow LCMS API uses industry standard XML Web Services. Web Services enable web applications to exchange data and perform functions from simple requests and queries to complicated business processes, with the result being a developer
-friendly integration and a seamless end-user experience.

“E-learning systems are often very customized to each organization’s unique needs. Our new API gives dominKnow LCMS customers and partners the flexibility to create integrations with existing systems,” says Chris Van Wingerden, Vice President of dominKnow Inc. “The API allows clients to create their own mashups to solve training needs that we could never predict.”

The company’s flagship product dominKnow LCMS 5.1 allows e-learning courseware to be developed in the most efficient way possible – from setting learning objectives, content authoring and gathering, instructional design, and multimedia creation, through to the final deployment and administration of a course. dominKnow customers in industries such as manufacturing, oil and gas, and health care claim dollar-cost efficiencies of 80% or more compared to traditional classroom learning.
