dominKnow LCMS 5.2
The dominKnow LCMS is a feature-packed, Web-based Learning Content Management System (LCMS) for creating, managing and delivering high-quality learning.
It can be used in an integrated model with the dominKnow Learning Center, or, since it is AICC and SCORM compliant, the dominKnow LCMS can be used in conjunction with any other third-party Learning Management System (LMS).
A full range of e-learning strategies
The dominKnow LCMS supports a full range of e-learning strategies, from fully online courseware approaches to just-in-time training solutions.
Unparalleled content-creation flexibility
From novice content creators to experienced programmers, anyone can rapidly and easily create highly interactive and engaging learning content using the dominKnow LCMS’s built-in authoring tool. The authoring tool combines the simplicity of a template-based approach with the greater power of Java Script to allow developers of all levels to create the learning experiences they need.
The dominKnow Language Module includes a translation tool that allows developers to extract the text assets of a course created in the authoring tool and have them translated into other languages.
Courses can also be easily created by importing existing content from Microsoft Word and PowerPoint documents, HTML pages, PDF files and Macromedia Flash files and re-purposing them into easily accessible, reusable learning content available to anyone in your organization.
In addition, the dominKnow LCMS supports multiple episode podcasts. Developers can attach podcasts, netcasts, and audio transcriptions to supplement courses - enabling disconnected or mobile on-the-go learning. Audio transcription also helps ensure courses meet Section 508 accessibility requirements. Learners can subscribe to these podcasts through the dominKnow LCMS 5.2 system interface or other popular aggregators.
Content re-usability
The dominKnow LCMS was built from the ground up to leverage Reusable Learning Object (RLO) technology – offering maximum productivity and efficiency through content re-use and easy access to existing information and knowledge.
With controllable inheritance that offers the ability to perform global updates (or not) on content, developers have the ability to use, re-use, and re-purpose existing content throughout the enterprise — speeding development and ensuring consistency and accuracy of information.
Learning Objects created for a course can also be accessed individually as reference or just-in-time or performance support tools. Course content can also be exported in print format, as XML or to CD-ROM.
The dominKnow Application Programming Interface (API) enables
Customizable assessments and surveys
Measuring knowledge transfer is simple with the dominKnow LCMS.
Testing options include pre-and post-testing, as well as re-certification. Pre-testing offers several levels of adaptive learning options. The dominKnow LCMS also offers the ability to create surveys and attach them — along with polls — as presentation files in courses.
Web-based collaboration tools
The dominKnow LCMS’s workflow management tools facilitate unique instructional design and content writing processes with task and project management capabilities that speed development.
The robust, collaborative design environment allows developers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to work individually or collaboratively on a learning project – managing all aspects of the content development process.
Developers and SMEs – whether located together or geographically dispersed – can easily share and manage content development by leveraging the dominKnow LCMS’s quality assurance and tracking tools, including sophisticated search, version control, access restriction, check-in and checkout, and final approval features.
Course developers, administrators and students can now stay in tune with changes made to courses without having to log into the dominKnow LCMS. All participants in the course life cycle can keep up with changes using RSS developer reports.
Robust administration features
The dominKnow LCMS features a permission-based system with the ability to create multiple administrators with different levels of access and control. Managing users, learners, content and reports is a snap with the dominKnow LCMS’s sophisticated administrative tools.
The dominKnow LCMS has a full suite of reporting options, including user tracking, tracking by time periods, or tracking by logins. All of these can be tracked universally, by single course, by module and even by learning object. Instructional design reports show learner test results to the question level, indicating knowledge transfer and offering insights for improved instructional design.
A full history tracking system records all work carried out on a course or on individual Learning Objects.
Future proof compatibility
The dominKnow LCMS is scalable to meet the needs of any organization and can be deployed as either an ASP hosted solution or on a server behind a client’s firewall.
The dominKnow LCMS is AICC and SCORM 1.2 and 2004 compliant, allowing learning content to be imported into any AICC/SCORM compliant LMS. As well, content can be exported to CD-ROM or as XML for transfer to other systems.
The dominKnow LCMS also supports the AICC’s Package Exchange Notification Services (PENS) standard. PENS is an interoperability guideline that defines the interface between authoring tools and Learning Management Systems (LMS) to automate the publishing and testing of learning materials accessed through LMS systems.
